Weekend Round Up 18th/19th March

The first outdoor track meeting of the season saw a number of Walton’s athletes brave the cold at Kingsmeadow for the Kingston Open.

Under 13 Girls. Carla Letheby won all three throws, Shot pb 6.97, Discus 18.34 and Javelin 18.66.
Under 13 Boys.Owen Jones ran 25.82 for 7th place in the 150m.
Under 15 Girls. Nathalie Jones 150m 1st in race 2 in 20.54, 800m 2nd in race 2 in 2.38.63..
Under 17 women. Rosie Marino won 80m hurdles race in 13.81, a good time for her first run at the distance, she also won the high jump with 1.45.
Under 20 Women. Claire Pearce came 5th in the combined u17, u20 & vets 800m in 3.03.86.
Senior Men. Adam McCarthy had a mixed day, winning his races at 150 in 17.28 and 300 in a good 37.89 but having a disappointing javelin throw 28.10.
Masters (Veteran) Women.  Ros Aylett (W50) 100m in 15.36, 150m in 23.29, 300m in 53.92.
Masters Men. Andy Jones (M40) 150m 19.97, 800m 2.19.80 

As usual the meeting was well organised and friendly, thanks to David Barrington and his team for promoting it.

Meanwhile away from the track Robin Copestick ran the Eastleigh 10k on Sunday in 32.34, a personal best coming about 30th in a very large field. Previous pb was 32.48ish so a very good improvement on a cold windy day.
Michelle Oldham continued her build up to the London Marathon, competing in the Fleet half marathon, finishing in a time of 1hr 33:29, also a pb and now moves on to the Cranleigh 21M next weekend.
