Surrey Women’s Cross Country League 13th January at Wimbledon

A number of Walton athletes took part in the Holly Run at Reigate on Sunday.
This is a cross country event held annually on the last Sunday before Christmas in the Priory Park at Reigate. The hilly course and very muddy ground made it a very testing course.

There were Walton entrants in nearly every age group.
Phillip Bearman was first to run in the under 11 boys race where he came an excellent 7th.
Four Walton girls competed in the under13 race, Becky Morris  24th, Lauren Highton 25th, Harriet Hall 28th and Emily Wastie 33rd.
Higo Fleming finishes 17th under13 boy.
Michael Clenents was 26th under15 boy and in the under 15 girls event Kim Dawkins was 17th, Nicola Aylett 22nd and Maria Lawrence 24th.
The best team result of the day was a win for the under17 girls team of Katie Panton 8thy, Becky Sims 9th and Josie Morley 10th .
Claire Pearce came 11th in the under 20 girls race and the best individual performance was from John Redshaw who was 2nd under 20 man, John came 11th in the combined u20/senior men’s race with Jon Ladley 39th of the 134 finishers.

The next cross country event is the county championships on Saturday 6th January, followed by the next Surrey League matches a week later on 13th January.
If anyone wants to be entered for the county champs and hasn’t already spoken to Ros or Jack, please do so early this week, entries close on 21st December.
