Only three Walton athletes took advantage of the early season open meeting at Kingsmeadow on Sunday but all of them came away with satisfactory performances on a cold and blustery day..

Ben Sutherland and Jack Marchbank followed up their good cross country seasons with decent 800m races. Ben ran 2.37.60 for 3rd place in the under 13 race and Jack ran 2.18.15 for 2nd in the under 17 race.

Carla Letheby, in her first outdoor competition as an under 15, picked up a 2nd and two 3rd places in the throws with 8.01 in the shot, 18.43 in the discus and a javelin throw of 22.21.
