Surrey Cross Country Championship 5th January 2008 Lloyd Park

   — BRONZE MEDALS FOR UNDER 13 BOYS TEAM —

The county championships were held as usual on the first Saturday in January on a very muddy surface at Lloyd Park in Croydon.
A small band of Walton athletes produced some good performances in the conditions.

The highlight of the day was the under 13 boys race where Walton won our first junior team medal in over twenty years. In a field of over 80 runners Hugo Fleming was 5th, Sam Linsley 8th, Phillip Bearman 45th and Conor Kissane Wood 57th meaning that the team won the bronze medal .

Two under 13 girls ran, Sophie Denmead coming 40th and Beth Sutherland 57th.

George Thomas was the only under 15 boy from Walton finishing 35th.
Alex Panayides ran well for 20th place in the under 15 girls race with Alicia Thonet 34th

Our only under 17 representative was Jack Marchbank who claimed a top twenty spot in 19th place.

In the senior ladies race Nat Warren had her best ever county champs finish in 18th place and Claire Pearce was 74th.

In the senior mens race Jon Hamblen was in the top three for much of the race but had to drop out on the last lap. James Harvey finished strongly to claim 8th place, his best Surrey Champs finish for five years, and Mark Farmer, in his first Surrey champs came a very good 29th.
