Surrey Men’s League Wimbledon Common February 9th 2008

The men’s 2007/08 cross country season finished on Wimbledon Common.

The senior mens team finished 3rd on the day but maintained our lead in the division, if only just, and finished the winter by winning division 3. As a result the club will compete in division two next winter.
Jon Hamblen completed a clean sweep of races, overcoming the opposition and a chest infection to win his 4th race out of 4.
James Harvey was 4th, Jon Marsden 13th, Steve Mills 21st, Jon Ladley 29th, Phil Bearman 33rd, Chris Taplin 51st, Stu Fawcett 56th, Christian Jennings 61st and Alex Aylett in 66th completed the scoring team of ten. Jack Rutherford came 106th and new member Jin Jhooti unfortunately dropped out with a twisted ankle during the race.
Walton won the league by just 15 points, 1263 to 1278 from Woking with British Airways 3rd.   
Jack Marchbank comfortably won the under 17 race to win the overall individual competition.
Ben Sutherland was 2nd and George Thomas 3rd in the under 15 race with Ben (unofficially) sharing the individual overall award with a Woking athlete.
Phillip Bearman was 6th in the under 15 race and Conor Kissane Wood was 9th.
The u15/u17 team have come 2nd to Woking and the under 13 team are 3rd behind Holland Sports and Woking.
