The Surrey young athletes cross country relay championships took place at Stoke Park in Guildford on Saturday 3rd October. The event is named after former Walton life member Bruce Judd who organised them for years.
Disappointingly we only had runners in two of the six age groups, under 15 girls and under 17 men but there were some good performances
Alice Wills ran the first leg of the under 15 girls race and finished 4th in a time of 8.24 for the 2.5km course. Alice handed over to Beth Hamlet who ran 8.56 and moved up to 3rd place. We didn’t have a 3rd leg runner so Alice ran again and recorded an amazing 8.46 for a second leg with less than 9 mins rest. The team still finished 4th out of 22 teams despite Alice running twice.
In the under 17 mens race there were 3 good runs from Ben Kennard 7.41, Kyle Treherne 8.30 and George Thomas 7.53 with the team finishing 12th overall and 9th A team.
