Surrey Cross Country Leagues Saturday 7th February

A busy week with the last round of Surrey cross country league matches. The ladies were on first at Coulsdon. Jo Locker was first home running 38.13 for 7th place, closely followed by Fiona De Mauny who was 13th in 38.36. Next were Lucy Bartlett in 46.24, then Jo Butcher in 46.47 and then Tina Howell in 55.07 and Ruth Tymens in 56.20. There were three juniors running, in the under 15 race Tiggy Tymens was 17th and in the under 13 race Emma Horsey came 21st closely followed by Clara Sawicki in 23rd in a field of 52 finishers.

The boys were racing in Richmond Park. Ollie was a very impressive 2nd (out of 43) in the under 13 boys race in 16.35, Jack Gemmell came 11th in 17.48, then Ben Marks 15th 18.10, Edward Dawson 20th 18.51, Michael Cottrill 25th 19.06 and Josh Cowie 38th 21.40. the team came 2nd on the day and finished 4th overall in the league.

In the combined under15/under 17 race Matt Pharaoh was first home in 20th place 17.01, then Josh Hathaway 25th in 17.23, Charlie Feinson 29th 17.54, Jamie West 31st 17.56, Kieran Allinson 34th 18.15, Mark Jacoby 40th 19.02 and Jake Wakeling 42nd 19.29, good performances considering that all the boys except for Matt are under 15’s. The team came 6th on the day and 5th overall in the league.

The senior men were at Lloyd Park and produced their best result of the season. Duncan Woolmer led the way with a best ever place of 4th in 30.47. The next seven Walton runners finished within 65s of each other, Matt Reed 20th in 32.15, Jon Hamblen 23rd in 32.20, Ben Kennard 28th in 32.37, Hugo Fleming 30th 32.52, Jon Brine 32nd in 32.55, James Harvey 35th in 33.12 and Jon Ladley 38th in 33.20. The scoring ten were completed by Chris De Mauny 75th in 35.51 and Chris Ness 83rd in 36.36. James Bartosik ran 38.10, then Martin Norman 39.26 and Rob Smith 41.20. The team came a very close 3rd on the day and moved up to 5th in the league.
