British Masters Champs

WALTON ATHLETES CLAIM 17 MEDALS AND 11 BRITISH TITLES

Walton masters athletes turned out in force for the British Masters Championships at Lee Valley over the weekend.

Saturday saw Jo Flowers W45, Susie McLoughlin W40 and Fiona DeMauny W35 take gold in the 400m, running 63.74, 59.42 and 60.13 respectively. Chris Taplin M50 ran a season’s best finishing 2nd in 54.19. Susie, Chris and Jo joined up with Stuart Channon M40 to run in the 60m. Susie and Chris both won their races.

Jo Locker W40 and Fiona finished off the first day of competition with a 1500 and both bagged a gold medal, Jo ran 4.56.19 and Fi ran 4.48.56.

Debbie Singleton W55 competed in the hammer and discus claiming a silver medal with a throw of 23.09m in the discus.

 

On Sunday saw the return of Susie, Fiona, Jo Flowers, Jo Locker and Stuart back for some more of the action! Susie claimed her 3rd gold medal of the weekend running a championship best performance of 26.26 in the 200m. Not to be outdone Fiona stormed round the 800m in a CBP time of 2.16.34. Lizzie Amos W40 and Chris Ness joined Fi in the 800m with Lizzie claiming a silver medal in a time of 2.22.74 and Chris digging deep in a tough race with a time of 2.20.68. Chris also High jumped 1.50.

Jo Flowers and Stuart came 3rd and 4th in the 200m running 28.28 and 24.37 respectively.

Tina Howell landed the silver in the triple jump with a leap of 10.20m. Meanwhile, in the winter throws competition, Joe Eastwood won the M65 javelin with 34.09m.

Jo locker ran in the final race of the weekend, the W40 3000m, finishing on a high with a gold medal.
