YDL LAG – Final Match Report

Worthing, the last match of the YDL season, saw a smaller than usual band of Walton Athletes competing in the warm and sunny conditions on the coast.

A number of great individual performances throughout the day, but by far the biggest and best was the team spirit and commitment of everyone who encouraged, supported, had fun and did events they have never done before “all for a point”. And every single one of those points counted and mattered. So a huge thank you and well done to you all.

In what was a very closely contended day with only 10 points separating the top 4 teams at one point, we came away with a very respectable 3rd place! This means provisionally we finish second in the league and have secured promotion next season, so some hard training for next year is needed!!

A very big thank you to all the officials and helpers in particular Debbie, Jack and Christian who went out of their way to be there on the day.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our team captains, Jack Gemmell and Georgia Russell for doing a sterling job all season, Andrew for his constant presence and guidance on match days and last but not least Kathryn Paul for her wonderful organisational skills and calming presence at each match, she has made it very easy for me to pick up the reins.

Again a big well done, you should all be very proud of yourselves you have represented Walton very well, have a great Summer.
