Our academy is the under 13 section of Walton Athletic Club.

Set up to give children in years 4 to 7 the opportunity to try out many athletics activities – including jumping, throwing, running and hurdling. It is run by fully licensed coaches and supported by assistant coaches and helpers – many of whom are members of the club.

Our training schedule

Sessions are available during term time as follows:

Mondays:

  • Children in years 4 and 5, at 16:45 to 17:40 hours
  • Children in years 6 and 7, at 16:45 to 17:40 hours
  • Children in years 6 and 7, 17:55 to 18:50 hours

Wednesdays:

  • Children in years 4 and 5, 16:45 to 17:40 hours
  • Children in years 6 and 7, 16:45 to 17:40 hours
  • Children in years 6 and 7, 17:55 to 18:50 hours

What you need for training

Children need to wear trainers and appropriate (loose/stretchy) clothing, bring layers appropriate for the weather, a pre-filled water bottle and be reminded to collect their belongings at the end as, sadly, there is no lost property facility at the site.

Track & Field

We provide track & field athletics for all ages and our members have the opportunity to train and compete in various track, jump and throw disciplines.

Cross Country

Cross country races are through the winter months, with courses that include long hills, short hills, technical challenges, grass and trails.

Road Running

Road running is all year round with various competitions available. Distances range from the mile to 5-10km, half and full marathons as well as Parkrun.
