Surrey Clubs U11 Sportshall

On Sunday 29th January a team of 14 children, 9 boys and 5 girls went to Guildford Spectrum to compete in an indoor sportshall event. Each athlete did 3 running events and 3 field events over the course of the afternoon. The girls kicked off the afternoon with the obstacle relay finishing 3rd and then it was the boys turn, who were obviously inspired by the girls performance, racing to an excellent first place. All the athletes worked incredibly hard and it was a real team effort, there were some excellent performances over the afternoon particularly form the girls who unfortunately due to injury and illness had a depleted team. A big thank you to the parents who volunteered to help officiate for the afternoon.

Awards Night – Friday 25th November

Dear all,
Well doesn’t time fly!  It’s time again for the biggest night in the club’s calendar; the annual Awards Night.  It will be an opportunity for all of you to celebrate your own and others’ achievements as well as to get to know some new faces.
Over 100 of you attended last year and it would be great to see even more of you this year.
Well, they say they come in threes, so here they are:
Firstly, double-double Olympian Sir Mo Farah will give a personal video address to WAC members at our awards night.
Secondly, Mo’s wife, Tania Farah, has agreed to present the awards.
Thirdly, the awards night now clashes with an England football match, so we have decided to re-jig the schedule to allow for watching the match at the Hub ahead of presenting the awards.
So, plan to arrive around 18:30 if you want to watch the football (the match starts at 19:00).  Awards presentation will likely start around 2100.
How great is that?!  So if you haven’t yet said you are coming along, please do book your place using this link.
What a great evening we are in for – I am really looking forward to seeing you all at the Hub.
Kind regards,
Malcolm Howard
Chair
PS Some food will be provided and the bar will be open – and don’t forget to bring cash for the raffle 🙂
