Okay so that was a demonstration of complete domination winning the day by 198 points – our largest win of the season and not only that we won all four league matches.

Well done to all Walton athletes who have competed over the four matches we won our division and now await the paper based match result to see if we have been promoted.  Fingers crossed…

Athletes of the Match:

U15 girls: Nicola Bell and Tait Jones.  Nicola and Tait have been dominant all season in discus and javelin winning the A string and B string in all four matches.  Due to unforeseen circumstances Tait picked up the hammer for the first time since March and not only got a PB but won the B string.  Nicola not to be outdone by Tait and filling in for the B string shot decided to replicate Tait and not only got a PB but also won the B string shot.  Well done girls.

Hetty Taylor – having only been with her throws coach for less than a month produced the 8th furthest throw in the country with 11.66m.  Well done Hetty = so much more to come.

U15 boys: Joe O’Connor in his first season as a Walton athlete has produced some amazing times on the track.  Unfortunately Joe was injured for this match but not only did he go out and produce a fabulous 100m PB of 11.8 he also agreed to fill in for javelin and shot getting a Surrey ranking in shot.

U13 girls: Isabella Dix again in her first season as a Walton athlete has gone above and beyond for the team.  She agreed to do the hurdles for points instead of her favoured long jump, performed amazingly in her 800m and scored a massive 3m plus PB throw in her javelin improving her Surrey Ranking and earning herself a Grade 4 AAA certificate.  Adding to that she was the first to put her hand up to do the 4 x 100m relay.

Izzy Garside/Rachel Pharaoh – for both coming forward and volunteering for the Long Jump for additional points for the team and also contributing to the 4 x 100m relay.

U13 boys: Ben Marks for volunteering to do the hurdles race having done the first hurdles race of the season and deciding that hurdles wasn’t his event.  Complete team player.

Tor Brett who has been throwing Shot and Javelin all season – not only did he get PBs in both of his events he stepped up to do the 1,500m as a last minute replacement.

Ebbisham League at Coulsdon 6th July

Well done Walton AC!  Excellent performances for our last Ebbisham match for the season.

A very big thank you to all our parents for bringing the children to Coulsdon.
Of course we would not have been so successful without our super coaches, so thank you especially Hilary, Andrew, Ben and Jack.

Special thank you to our officials led by Debbie, Marie Marks, Angela Horsey, Stuart Mace, Sophie Mace, Ben Kennard and Jack on track.

There were a few surprises for the boys at this match trying new events with great determination and matching results.

An overall excellent effort from our smaller team but still super results finishing 3rd – another pat on the back boys.

Once again our under 11’s ran and jumped in style with an array of personal bests.

The under 13’s and 15’s swopped events some trying shorter distances and some running forever (so it seemed but not judging by the fast times)

The runners had a throw and the throwers had a run!
Under 11 PB’s

Tom Polley, Matthew Brosniham, Christopher Vaughan, Cameron Hunter

Under 13 PB’s

Conor Martin, Daniel Horsey, Ben Marks, Oliver Coppellotti

Under 15 PB’s

Sam Mace, Jamie West, Charlie Feinson

Our last man of the match –  well every athlete who has competed in the Ebbisham deserves to be “man of the match”  but overall Oliver Coppellotti for his team spirit and enthusiasm topped with great performances well done

Lily B League at Croydon 5th July

Well done to all of those who competed at Croydon on Saturday.   I know many of you nearly didn’t make it what with the traffic and diversions so thank you to all the parents for supporting your daughters and not doing a u turn along the way.  Unfortunately due to so many school commitments and a week before English Schools we only had a small team competing.

Despite the horrible conditions there were some fantastic performances especially given that many of you were in training and competing for the first time in the events that your coaches had requested you to do.   Not one complaint and four Surrey Rankings and two Grade 4’s not bad for a rainy day.

Special thanks to Paul and Lydia Banbury for sorting out numbers, Andrew Kennard and Sabrina Mace for helping out with officiating.

Athletes of the Match: The whole Walton Team – absolutely no one can be excluded from what has been our highest scoring total this season.  However I am naming a number of athletes who really impressed:

On the track: Charlotte Vaughan’s 1,200m race – Charlotte ran a 7 second PB, placed herself in the top 50 in the UK over the distance and displayed the most amazing piece of front running.

Jumps: Zac Goor – not many of you would have seen Zac have a fairly major altercation with the High Jump stands at 1.15m.  I told him that he could come out at that point as he had a badly bruised his leg.  But no true to the character of this Walton team Zac stayed in and got a PB with 1.30m and claiming second place.

Throws: Sia Banbury with a massive PB of 29.60m putting her first in Surrey and that from someone who only took up the event in April.  Well done Sia you’ve shown the whole team if they really want something what they can achieve.

What stuck out so much about the team performance was just how many Personal Bests (PBs) were achieved.  Well done everyone – full results can be viewed at: http://www.thepowerof10.info/results/results.aspx?meetingid=103411
