Holly Run – 2016

A cold and misty early start cleared to a beautiful winter’s day for the family day out at the Holly Run in Reigate Park. A lot of results to cover so please let me know if I missed any. Walton had athletes in most age categories from the U11s to the over 50s. The senior men’s team comfortably defended their title, the U15 girls dominated with a perfect result and the U15 boys took the team prize. The U13 boys were third team which rounds off a great team effort from our small club.

Lots of great photos on Sussex Sport Photography’s website here.

Ben and Sean ran in the under 11s and survived the chaotic start that was more akin to the running of the bulls than a junior cross country. Ben was 45th and Sean 47th, both a few seconds apart.

Isabella represented the U13 girls, finishing 13th just under 14 minutes.

Freddie, Jacob and Christopher formed the U13 boys team and finished closely together in 14th, 17th and 20th place.

Charlotte. Rachel and Emma took first, second and third in the U15 girls, with Clara and Lani not far behind in 10th and 12th.

Josh, Oliver, Michael, Edward and Sam ran in the U15s in a small boys field with some great times for the hilly course.

Isaac was the only U17 boy finishing third.

Becky and Ruth came 5th and 15th in the senior ladies.

Matt P, Matt R and Jon made up the senior men’s team to all finish in the top 10 and Matt R taking third. Rob and Jack rounded the team off in style.

Young Athletes Surrey League Cross Country – Match 2

Walton juniors maintained top form at Saturday’s Surrey League Cross Country at Farthing Downs.

The under 15/17s packed well to take victory in the team race, Ben Marks was first home in 7th, closely followed by Ollie Coppellotti in 9th, Joshua Taylor in 11th and Isaac Mammen in 13th. Michael Cotterill was next home in 29th, Charlie Feinson in 31st, Charlie showed true team spirit as he had a nasty fall at the top of the hill and could have easily pulled out but the club captain continued to the finish. Rueben Leyland was 48th and newcomer back after a few years away Jack Butler was 51st and Ben Palmer was 76th.

In the under 13 boys Ross Hurst had his best run this season so far coming home in 3rd, Jack Gemmell was just behind in 4th and Jacob Gelona was 23rd.

Congratulations to all the boys!!
