This year's Championships at Sheffield will have four Walton athletes competing. This is the most athletes the Club has had at the Championships for a number of years.

This competition is the largest and most prestigous schools competition in England and is held over two days. There are minimum entry standards and Counties are restricted on the number of athletes they can send. This year was a particularly hard year for Surrey athletes with a large number being dissappointed despite making the entry standard.

Carla Letheby will represent Surrey in the Intermediate girl's discus and is the only female thrower in the team.

Lisa O'Brien will represent Surrey in the Intermediate girls 80m hurdles.

Both girls are first year entrants in this age group and will be competing against girls a year older than themselves.

They have been to all the Club league matches this season and have improved consistently as the year has progressed. This will be a first Championships for Lisa and the second for Carla.

Rosie Marino will represent Surrey in the Senior girls 400m hurdles. Rosie is an old hand at the Championships, this being her third appearance.

Hugo Fleming will represent Middlesex in the Junior boys 800m. This is Hugo's first Championships and was selected after winning the 800m at the County Championships in a new pb.

All these athletes should be congratulated on being selected by their Counties and the Club wishes them success in their respective events.

The Championships are again live on Sky TV.
