The team travelled up to Loughborough on Thursday and competed on Friday at the Paula Radcliffe Stadium in Loughborough
Over 350 athletes compete at the Games as part of seven teams representing Northern Ireland and Scotland, with England represented by the Midlands, North East, North West,
South East and South West. This inclusive format also features 20 disability events across the 58 event programme
The 2016 School Games is a multi-sport event for the UK’s elite young athletes of school age
The competition re-enforces the experience of Olympic and Paralympic Games complete with Opening and Closing Ceremonies
Sam Mace’s Hammer was the first event of the day in the field events and of course it was pouring with rain!
In a strong field with the top two in the country battling out for Gold and Silver, Sam in his first year kept his cool and produced a new Personnel Best of 60.64m just ahead of tough competition to secure the Bronze Medal

Somewhat later in the day the sun came out and the last field event was Tait Jones in the Discus
Tait had the top three in the country which made the battle for the medals tough going
Tait also in her first year threw a creditable 37.20m to come 5th
Both Tait and Sam were thrilled to be selected and had a wonderful time competing for England
