YDL LAG – Match 4 Report

MATCH REPORT – MATCH 4

It was a slightly smaller but no less determined team who arrived at Woking for the final match of the season.

Sian Popham made her debut for the Club in three events and gained valuable points for the team.

Once again, there were some great performances and PBs throughout the day. Amy Van De Westhuizen started the day for the U13G with a PB in the 75mH and followed that up with two more PB’s in the SP and JT. There were also PB’s in the 800m and 1200m for Evie Hodgen and Bella Wiles respectively.

The U15G matched this on the track with PBs in the 75mH for Jasmine de la Touche, 200m for Emma Horsey and 1500m for Lani Caldwell.

On the field, there were also PBs for Eva West in the HT, Grace Penfold in the JT, Georgia Russell in the SP and Caitlin Paul in the LJ.

Not to be outdone, the U13B saw PBs for Ollie Emment in all three of his events (800m, JT and LJ), matched by Chris Vaughan’s OB in the 800m and Jacob Gelona in the 1500m who managed to take a huge 19 seconds off his PB in the event. Tom Jones also ran a PB in the U15B 1500m as did Tyler Panton in the 300m, Evan Lee in the 200m and Ben Palmer in both the 200m and 1500m. The PBs kept coming in the field events for Luca Soave in the HT and LJ, Josh Cowie in the DT and George Sudderick in the SP.

Performances of the day go to Amy van de Westhuizen and Ollie Emment for their hat trick of PBs!

The relays brought the day to an exciting close with the U13G and U13B’s 4x100m teams coming 3rd and 2nd respectively. The U15G 4×100 came ??? and the U15B going 2 better to win. The 4x300m U15G team won in emphatic style 14 seconds ahead of the next team with the U15B narrowly missing out in a thrilling finale.

Thank you to all the officials for giving up their time again, so that our athletes can compete, and to Josh and Emma, our outgoing team captains. Thank you also to Andrew and Hilary for coaching this season and to the parents for their unwavering support!

The full results will be available on the Power of 10 website later in the week.
