Rosenheim League Timetable 2006

The Rosenheim League is a low key midweek track and field league involving local clubs.
The men’s competition is split into an eastern and a western division and each division has 6 fixtures on Wednesday evening
through the summer. The league concludes with a final between the leading clubs in each division (usually the top 3 or 4 in each) with the winners of the final claiming the Rosenheim trophy.
The ladies competition just involves the western division clubs, with the club leading the league after the six matches being the winner.

Each club can enter one scoring competitor in each event but can enter as many non scorers as they like.
Come along and try it.

Ebbisham League 16th April Tooting Bec

Walton AC boys claimed 3rd place in their first match back in division 1 of the Ebbisham League, having been promoted straight back after one season in division 2.
Despite a depleted team for the opening match (only seven athletes attended), the team achieved a creditable 3rd place.

In the U13 Ben Kennard achieved a 1st in the 400m and 2nd with a PB in the 1500m of 5.16.7, Hugo Fleming achieved 1st in the 800m and 1500mm.

In the U14 category Harry Marchbank had a 2nd and two 3rd places, Louis Johnson was 1st with a PB of 12.8 in the 100m and also had 2nd place in the 200m & Triple Jump. Wesley Turner was 1st with a PB of 16.53 in the discus and was also 3rd in the Javelin.

The final category of U15 had a notable 1st place in the 1500m from Alex Stockinger who also obtained two 3rd places in the 400m and discus, with Harry Shakespeare also gaining 3rd place in the High Jump and the discus with a PB.

The day closed with a creditable relay from the U15s, which all in all with the 5 PBs so early in the season bodes well for the rest of the season.

Walton Open Meeting Sunday 7th May 2006

Walton Athletic Club held their annual open meeting on Sunday at Stompond Lane and, as usual, it attracted athletes from all over the South of England and produced some excellent performances.
About 200 athletes took part and despite the quality of the opposition there was plenty for the locals to shout about with dozens of wins for home athletes.
In the under 11 girls age group Walton’s Jessica Woodley recorded the fastest sprint time, followed by Lucy Paskell. Eleaner Palmer was the winner over 600m and Jessica also won the long jump for a clean sweep of home wins.
The under 11 boys 600 was won by Rory Bird with Elliot Anthony 2nd in the 75m sprint and Robert Lichfield 2nd in the long jump.
Abi Wroth was 2nd in the under 13 girls 100m & 200m, Lauren Highton 2nd in the 800m and Sasha Morse 2nd in the 1500m. Charlotte Tome came 2nd in the hurdles and Emma Leech won the high jump and was 2nd in the long jump.
Hugo Fleming had a great day in the under 13 boys events winning the 100m, 200m 800m and 1500m.
Walton had the first three in the undeer 15 girls 800m through Lucy Morris, Kim Dawkins and Nathalie Jones. Ellen Sellwood won the 200m with Brittt Hijkoop 2nd in the 100. Rachael Strachan won the hurdles and Chelsey Lavall won the high and long jumps.
Louis Johnson won the under 15 boys 100m and was 2nd in the long jump.
Rosie Marino came 2nd in the under 17 women’s hurdles and Rebecca Pickering was 2nd in the pole vault.
Walton ran away with the under 17 men’s sprint races. Ramon Wright won the 100 & 200, Mark Partridge was 3rd in the 100 and 2nd in the 200 and Ben Keller won the 400 and was 3rd in the 200. Also in this age group Jack Marchbank won the 800m and Alex Ferrelly won the steeplechase and was 2nd in the pole vault.
Under 20 age group winners for Walton were Maria Hanshaw in the 100& 200m, Courtney Codrington in the high jump, Lauren Garhard in the pole vault and  John Redshaw in the 800m. Kaylee Price was 2nd in the 100m and the sprint hurdles.
Senior event winners were a little rarer for the home club but Helen Williams won the 100m and the long jump, Andrew Kennard the 400m hurdles, James Harvey the steeplechase and Joanne Locker the 1500m. Nathalie Warren was 2nd in the 800m. Susie McLoughlin, now of Birchfield but formerly of Walton, was an easy winner of the women’s 400m hurdles.

Thanks to all the officials and helpers without whom this event could not have taken place.

Weekend Round Up 6th/7th May

Two events took place this weekend, the first Lily B league match was held at Guildford on Saturday and, of course, the Walton Open Meeting was held at Stompond Lane on Sunday.

Report and results from the Open meeting can be found at Walton Open Meeting
The Lily B team finished 3rd and a report will appear shortly once we receive the results from the organising club.
Monday night saw the first veterans league match and a few of our top veterans were on display. Walton compete in a combined team with Richmond and Twickenham. Robin Roach won the M50 discus and shot, Debbie Singleton won the women’s discus and shot and Jo Regan won the 100m and long jump as well as leading off the relay team fast enough to be ahead of one of the mens teams on the first leg. Andrew Kennard was competing in his first vets league match and was leading the 400m when a hamstring twinge caused him to ease up and settle for 2nd place. The ladies team won the match and wwe are still waiting to hear the mens result.
Next weekend is the Surrey Track and Field Championships at Kingsmeadow stadium, hopefully we will have a large and successful entry from Walton athletes.

The first Rosenheim league match is on Wednesday night at Kinston starting at 6.45. Anyone interested in competing just turn up or talk to any of the senior group coaches. The competition is for senior men and women but under 17’s can take part.

Closing date for Surrey Vets champs is 13th May. Champs take place on Saturday 27th May and details and an entry form can be found at  Surrey Veteran’s Championship
