Weekend Round Up 1st/2nd April

Another local open meeting saw four Walton athletes making the trip to the new track at Crawley on Saturday for their first Spring Open Meeting.

Ben Kennard ran a good 600m to record 1.54.0 in the under 13 race, Ben also threw the shot 5m65.

Helen Williams won both the events she entered, running 10.5 for the 80m and long jumping 5.43.

Jo Locker finished a close 2nd in the 1000m in 3.15.3 and veteran Robin Roach (M55) threw the discus 28.92

Weekend Round Up 25th/26th March

Two Walton athletes travelled to Mansfield to compete for their counties in the English Schools Cross Country championships.

In the senior boy’s race John Redshaw, competing for Middlesex, had an excellent run to come 68th of 304 finishers. in the intermediate boy’s race Alex Ferrelly running for Surrey Schools came 153rd of 305 finishers. Well done to both.

Michelle Oldham continued her London Marathon build up in the Cranleigh 21 mile race where she ran a very respectable 2 hrs 39 m 38s. This time placed her 7th woman and 66th overall in a field of 417.

Meanwhile on the track a few Walton athletes competed in the Bracknell Young Athletes Open Meeting and despte the rain
managed to record some good performances.
In the U11 girls Alice McGill finished 2nd in her 150m heat in a time of 26.5s despite
falling at the start and just missed out on a place in the final.
In the 60m Alice finished 2nd in her heat and qualified for the final, where she finished in 7th
place. Best time of the day was 10.0s.
In the U13 girls Carla Letheby finished 1st in the Shot with a throw of 6.75m and 1st
in the Discus with a throw of 17.52m. Carla also ran in the 13.0s in her 80m heat to
finish 5th
Hugo Fleming in the U13 boys finished 2nd in his 80m heat and went on to come 7th
in the final with a time of 12.4s. Hugo also ran in the 1000m where he recorded the 5th
best time of 3.22.4

Surrey Track and Field Championships

Details and entry forms are now available for the Surrey Track and Field Championships. The event will take place at the Kingsmeadow Stadium on the weekend of the 13th & 14th May.

There is a full programme of events for all age groups from under 13 upwards and all athletes should consider entering, please talk to your coaches about it.

Entries close on May 2nd and full details and entry forms are available on the Surrey AA website

Under 11 Cross Country Championship 2006

The under 11 cross country championship took place on the usual course around Black Pond in Esher Woods.
A total of eighteen athletes took part in the keenly contested race.
Results are as follows:
