Junior Club Championship 24th June

The cool and wet weather on Sunday probably reduced the number of entrants for the junior club champs but there were still enough contenders to produce some excellent competition.

Last year’s under 11 girls champion Eleanor Palmer retained her title with Kate van Gorkum 2nd and Josie Farmer 3rd.  Eleanors 1.27m high jump was particularly impressive.
Phillip Bearman won the under 11 boys title with a good all round performance ahead of 2nd placed Jesse Webster. Finlay Robjohn claimed the bronze medal.

The boys and girls under 13 age groups had the biggest entries of the day, ten girls and 13 boys.
The girls competition was particularly close with Katie Churchman just holding off Bethany Hamlet  to win the trophy and Lucy Paskell coming 3rd only a couple of points ahead of joint 4th placed Shannon Kay and Sophie Denmead.
Hugo Fleming was a clear winner of the boys competition but 2nd and 3rd places were very close with Sam Odell just beating Robert Litchfield.

Carla Letheby won the under 15 girls trophy with some quality throwing. Kim Dawkins was 2nd with Abbie Wroth 3rd.
Louis Johnson retained his under1 5 boys trophy with some excellent sprinting and jumping .Harry Marchbank narrowly beat Joe Walsh in the battle for 2nd and 3rd.

Rosie Marino celebrated her English Schools qualification by winning the under 17 women’s championship with some superb sprining and hurdling. Last years winner Rebecca Pickering performed well to finish 2nd with Chelsey Lavall winning the bronze medal.
In the under 17 men’s competition Ramon Wright held on to his trophy from last year, with Mark Partridge 2nd and Jack Marchbank 3rd.
Thanks to all the officials and helpers who gave up their time to ensure a very smooth meeting.
