Lily B League ’19 – Match 1 Report

Lily B League – Match 1 – 22nd April 2019 – Report

The sun shone for our first Lily B event on Easter Monday at Epsom and Ewell athletic track. We had a brilliant turnout of girls ranging in age from U11 to U17 and everyone performed really well and should be very proud of their performances.

There were some amazing results with a large number of wins and personal bests.

In the Under 11s Kitty and Poppy Scott beat their previous bests to achieve PBs in 75m, 600m and Long Jump. Sabina Coppola-Johansen had a storming race to win the u11 600m. Two other sisters Olanna and Chia Brown ran for the first time for the club and had a really successful day. We had an u11 relay team who following a bit of trackside training excelled at their first ever relay race. Great performances all round by our youngest members you should all be very proud.

Other PBs came in the 100m from Jeslyn Agyei Kyem (U17), Sophie Cunliffe (U17) Sian Popham (U15), Annalise Agyeu Kyem (U15) and Louisa Amoroso (U15) and in the 1500 from Tate Green and Bella Wiles (U15). What an achievement!

We had some spectacular wins in the relays too with our U17 and U15 girls in well executed and extremely exciting to watch races.

Off the track our throwers surpassed themselves with wins from Georgia Russell in discus, hammer and shot! Eva West and Amy Lee Van der Westhuizen also won their Hammer events and Alex Brewis won the U15 Discus. Well done girls.

I would like to mention each and everyone of you but this would be a very long report.

And finally a huge thanks to our dedicated officials on the day – Debbie Singleton, Christian Burgar, Matthew Maxwell, Tracy Heron, Chris West, Tony Popham, Stuart Russell, Keith Williams and Clare Mammen.

And our lovely parents who grouped together on the grass bank and made the whole day really enjoyable and memorable.

Full results are on Power of 10

Once again well done all and thank you. Looking forward to the next Lily B at home on June 1st.
