Ebbisham League – Match 1 Report

Walton youngsters victorious in first Ebbisham Boys fixture of the season at Sutton.

The lead kept changing throughout the day, but in the end Walton prevailed and held off the stiff challenge from home club Sutton & District.

27 athletes made the trip and did not disappoint with numerous personal and seasons bests throughout the day and some of those athletes, having their very first experience of competing in a WAC vest.

The Punton twins, this years boys joint club captains, Josh and Finn led by fine example and between them recorded five personal bests. Jacob Thomas showed huge improvement with three personal bests. Felix Decker and Christopher Vaughan both ran personal bests in 1500 and newcomer Ben Wells looks like a great addition to the club with a solid 26:4 run in the 200.

The u13 boys performed admirably with James Queen and Isaac Amankwaah both performing well in the sprints, Friso Boomsima and Luke Morgan secured maximum points in the hurdles and Christian Boyd having his first outing over 1500 metres had a superb run, recording 5:23:2.

Six U11s (Jake Meyburgh; Matthew Wellinger; Max Giles; Adam Palmer-Ali; Reece Morgan and Seb Clark) made the journey and all performed exceptionally well against tough opposition in the 75/150/600 metres & Long Jump.

Special thanks should go to our one and only official Jo Gelona who gave up her time and track judged all day. Thanks also to the parents who came along and supported.

Next fixture is on Sunday 2 June.

Full results will be posted on Power of 10 shortly.
