Ebbisham League 2nd July at Kingston

The final Ebbisham League match was held at Kingston on Sunday and, despite some very good performances, a poor turn out of only 5 athletes condemned Walton to last place in the match. The team finished 5th overall and will be relegated to division 2 for next season.
On the bright side the five athletes produced ten personal best performances from the thirteen events they competed in.

Weekend Round Up 24th/25th June

Another busy weekend on the competition front with the Southern Womens League team travelling to Wimborne on Saturday and the Young Athletes League team at Perivale on Sunday.

Lack of numbers led to the teams finishing last in both matches but there were some excellent individual performances, see reports below.

There was also a Rosenheim League match last Wednesday at Eton Rosenheim League at Eton

Many of our junior athletes have performed well in district schools championaships and if we are sent any results we will publish them here.
These are from the West Surrey Prep Schools Champs at Bracknell on June 22nd.

U11 Georgia Morse 600m 2.20.3 75m 12.6

Sasha Morse ran a very good 1500 in 5.39.7 came  4th. 
Jessica Woodley threw 6.73m in the shot
Katie Draper ran an excellent 100m to come equal 1st in time of 13.6 ( a pb)and goes on to
represent West Surrey at the Nationals at Birmingham
Carla Letheby won the Javelin with 23,43m and the discus with a new championship record of 24,78m( a pb) and will also go on to the finals at Birmingham.
Carla also came 2nd in the 800m

Young Athletes League 25th June Perivale

The third of four Young Athletes League meetings took place on Sunday and although there were some very good individual performances there weren’t enough athletes competing to avoid last place.

Highlight of the day was another athlete of the match award for Walton. This time it was Josh Corrigan with an excellent high jump of 1.47 to win the male field athlete of the match.

Southern Womens League 24th June at Wimborne

The SWL team made the long trip to Wimborne on Saturday and, despite only having two under 15 athletes, due to a clash with Sundays YAL match, performed very well.

The team finished in 5th place, but only 39 points behind the winners, with a repectable score of 130 points. That score was good enough to leave the club in 14th place in the league.

The two juniors who did travel both achieved good results, Natalie Jones picked up two second places both in new best times in the 200m and 800m then knocked half a second from her best sprint hutrles time for 3rd place. Nicola Aylett ran a well judged race for 3rd place in the 800m and was also 3rd in the shot.

The seniors had a very good day all round with many event wins. The first event of the day saw a double win in the long jump for Helen Williams and Kaylee Price. Kaylee also won the high jump and the sprint hurdles and Helen was 2nd in the 100m and 200m. Maria Hanshaw, in her first league appearance of the season, picked up 2nd places in the B string sprints. Jo Locker won the 800m A race with her fastest time for two years and Nathalie Warren equalled her best ever time to place 2nd in the B race. Claire Pearce ran her best ever  400m for 3rd place in the B race.  Rosie Marino won the B string High Jump and was 2nd and 3rd in the two under 17 hurdles races. Debbie Singleton was 2nd in the pole vault and the discus with Lauren Garhard winning the B string vault with a new pb. Tina Howell won the B string triple jump and threw new pb’s in the hammer and discus. the sprint relay team of Rosie, Kaylee, Maria and Helen had a comfortable win and the day finished with Helen, Nathalie, Claire and Hannah Gray coming 3rd in the 4 x 400m relay, the highlight being a fastest ever run by Hannah on the final leg.

The next match for the team is a home one at Stompond Lane in three weeks on Saturday 15th July.

Rosenheim League 21st June Eton

The 4th Rosenheim League match took place at Eton on Wednesday night.
Only three Walton athletes took part but they were rewarded with some good performances.
Kaylee Price produced two excellent personal bests, 12.8s for 100m and 26.6 for 200.
Robin Roach had a busy evening with a seasons best in the 200m and also threw the javelin and shot.
Jon Brine finished 3rd in the 3000m.

For the record the men came 6th in the match and are 6th in the league, the women came 4th in the match and are 3rd in the league.
