Steve Amos Memorial Trust

Steve Amos Memorial Trust

The Trust was set up in 1994 to both help athletes rehabilitate from injury and support coaches in gaining qualifications.
Some funds remain in the Trust; Club members can apply for assistance with the cost of coaching courses or for assistance with the cost of treatment to assist rehabilitation.
Those wishing to apply for funding assistance should contact Pat Amos stating their needs.  It would be of assistance if applicants stated, briefly, what they have achieved in the Club; number of matches attended, assistance with coaching etc and what contribution they expect to make in the future.
Application by email or letter to Pat Amos: –  Pat Amos amos60@btinternet.com; letters can be handed to Pat or Dave Moles on week day training evenings.

Club Champions 2010

Club Championship results for 2010 have now been calculated and the winners and medallists are shown below.

This years Walton AC Awards evening will be held on Saturday 27th of November.

For those people that haven’t been before, it’s essentially a fun end of season celebration with night of food, drink, a few team games and  prize giving. You certainly don’t have to be winning an award to come.

As with last year we will be presenting trophies to all age groups from U11 upwards.

Age group winners and medalists will be decided on the basis of their performances across the season in track and field matches with the number of times they have represented the club being taken into consideration.

The leading three athletes in each age group will be presented with gold, silver and bronze medals and the winner will be awarded the age group championship trophy for a year.

The Awards evening will be held at St Andrews Church Hall (just opposite the club in Hersham Road, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, KT12 1LG).

South of England Multi Events Championship

The South of England Multi Events championships were held at Barnett Copthall over the weekend and on Sunday Reece Barnett competed in the under 15 boys pentathlon.

Despite injuring himself in the high jump he still managed a creditable fourth place producing three personal best performances in the 80 hurdles 12:94,  Shot Putt 11:36 and High Jump 1:70 (a height which takes him to the top of the Surrey rankings) and in turn he produced a new PB overall total score 2477,  an improvement of 36 points on his previous best set in June at Ashford in the South of England Schools combined Event championships, where he also secured fourth place.

As a result of this performance Reece has been selected for the English Schools Combined Events championships to be held in Stoke on the 18/19 September.
