Southern Women’s League 2nd September at Kingston

The SWL team saved the best for last with 2nd place and a best score of the summer at Kingston.
Walton were beaten by Bexley but clinched second in the final event beating Hastings in the 4 x 400m relay. Bournemouth were 4th in the match and Worthing 5th.
The result confirms Walton’s place in the top half of the league.
The senior distance runners led the way with A string wins in the 800 and 1500 by Jo Locker and the 3000m from Nat Warren and a B string 1500 win by Claire Pearce. Bonnie Chouls picked up two 2nd places in the B string 800 and 3000.
Helen Williams did the sprint double winning the 100m and 200m with Hannah Gray getting two 4th places in the B races. Helen also won the A long jump with Jo Regan winning the B event. Jo also won the B triple jump with Tina Howell finishing 2nd in the A string.
Debbie Singleton managed 2nd in the pole vault and Rebecca Pickering vaulted a new pb to win the B string event.
The opposition throwers were strong but Debbie Jo and Tina picked up some valuable points.
Rosie Marino won the 300m hurdles and was 3rd in the 80m hurdles.
Although they didn’t have many event wins the juniors scored consistantly well across all the events. Chelsey Lavall won the A string high jump and there were B string wins for Brit Hijkoop in the long jump, Abi Wroth in the sprint hurdles and there were a host of 2nd and 3rd places. Carla Letheby threw pb’s in the discus and javelin for two 2nd places. Kim Dawkins was 2nd in the B string high jump and 800m, Nat Jones was 2nd in the A 800m and the B string 100. Nicola Aylett managed 2nd in the B string shot and Chelsey 2nd in the B javelin. Ellen Sellwood scored well in the sprints and was 3rd in the A shot. Nicola and Carla finished 3rd and 2ndin the 1500m races.
