Four Walton athletes competed in the South of England under15 & under 17 championships at Ashford over the weekend, defying the poor conditions to perform well.
Reece Barnett came 3rd in the under 15 boys Long Jump , he jumped 5:59 (although he was not happy with 3rd!), and Camilla Papa flew back from Germany (getting up at 4 am ) and came 5th in the under 15 girls 75mts Hurdles final in a new PB 12:09 into a – 4.0 mts per second headwind and was 9th fastest in the 100 qualifying, 13:43 again into -4.0 headwind.
Ben Kennard ran a new pb of 4.31.40 in the heats of the under 17 mens 1500m and in the under 17 mens 800m Hugo Fleming ran 2.01 to qualify for the semi final, 1,59 to reach the final and came 7th in the final with 1.57.57.
Camilla had been in Germany competing in the ISST Schools championships where she won all her four events, 100m in 12.84, 200m in 26.25, 400m in 61.15 and long jumping 4.86
