National Indoor Gold Rush for Walton Masters

Flowers leads the gold medal charge with three Championship wins!

The Walton masters had a successful weekend at the British masters at Lee Valley last weekend.

The 60m races kicked off the weekend with Joanna Flowers achieving gold in the W50 and Helen Channon gaining bronze in the W40 in only her second indoor race in 4 years.

Stuart Channon came 4th, missing out on 3rd by 4/ 100ths of a second. Martin Willis ran a PB in the M45 60m heats of 8.58.

On Saturday afternoon the 400m finals began with Virginia Mitchell setting the standard with a gold medal in the W55. Jo Flowers followed in her footsteps with her 2nd gold of the weekend and not to be outdone Lizzie Amos also got gold in the W40 400m.

Martin Willis finished off Saturday’s events with 6th in the LJ.

Jon Ladley began Sunday morning with gold in the M35 pole vault.

Jo Flowers went for her hat-trick of gold medals coming home first on the 200m.

Next on were Virginia and Lizzie in the 800m; Virginia led from gun to tape with a confident run narrowly missing out on the W55 800m world record. Lizzie also gained her 2nd gold medal of the weekend winning by 1/10th of a second!

Martin Willis wrapped up the weekend with 4th in the M45 shot.
